Lieutenant James Leach and Sergeant John Hogan of the Manchester Regiment, were awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery in the trenches at Festubert, France, First World War, 29 October 1914.
The picture shows enemy soldiers surrendering to them as they cleared a number of German forward positions.
